Vanilla (Vanilla planifolia L.) Absolute Oil 100%

Bourbon or Réunion vanilla is obtained by extraction from Vanilla planifolia Andrews.

Vanilla absolute is a concentrated oil extract derived from the vanilla bean, which comes from the orchid (Orchidaceae) species Vanilla planifolia. It is a thick, dark-brown liquid that has a sweet, warm, and comforting aroma, with notes of vanilla, caramel, and cream.

Vanilla absolute is chemically very complex. Vanillin, a phenolic aldehyde, is present at around 2 per cent (Jouhar 1991), and other constituents
include hydroxybenzaldehyde, acetic acid, iso-butyric acid, caproic acid, eugenol and furfural (Klimes and Lamparsky 1976; Lawless 1992).

It blends well with floral essential oils and absolutes (ylang ylang, geranium, rose and jasmine), sandalwood and the spice oils (ginger, clove and cinnamon).

Vanilla absolute is highly concentrated and should be used with caution. It is typically diluted with a carrier oil before use in aromatherapy or applied to the skin, and sho not be ingested in its undiluted form. Additionally, those with sensitive skin may want to do a patch test before using vanilla absolute on their skin.
