Natroil's Amyris Essential Oil
Short description
A rich, warm, woody essential oil with soft balsamic undertones, subtle sweetness, and exceptional smoothness. Natroil's Amyris Essential Oil is valued in perfumery for its fixative qualities, versatility, and ability to add depth, warmth, and sophistication to a wide variety of fragrance creations.
Full description
Natroil's Amyris Essential Oil is a luxurious woody aromatic material distilled from the heartwood of Amyris balsamifera, a tree native to the Caribbean. Renowned for its smooth, long-lasting character, Amyris has earned a respected place in both traditional and modern perfumery, where its warm woody profile and natural fixative properties make it an invaluable ingredient.
Upon first impression, Amyris reveals a soft and comforting woody aroma with gentle balsamic richness. Unlike sharper or drier wood oils, Amyris possesses an exceptionally smooth and rounded character, offering a warm, velvety woodiness that unfolds gradually over time. Subtle sweet nuances emerge as the scent develops, accompanied by delicate resinous facets and hints of cedarwood, creating a sophisticated and harmonious aromatic profile.
Its aroma is often compared to sandalwood due to its creamy warmth and impressive persistence, although Amyris possesses its own distinctive personality. It is generally drier, lighter, and more balsamic than true sandalwood, making it highly versatile across a broad range of fragrance styles.
In perfumery, Amyris Essential Oil is widely used as both a fragrance ingredient and a natural fixative. Its excellent tenacity helps support and extend more volatile materials while contributing a smooth woody foundation of its own. This makes it particularly valuable in natural perfumery, where achieving longevity and balance can often be challenging.
Amyris performs exceptionally well in woody, oriental, amber, incense, and masculine fragrance compositions. It can add warmth to floral structures, soften resinous accords, enhance woody bases, and provide elegant support to citrus and aromatic notes. Its ability to blend seamlessly with a wide range of materials makes it one of the most versatile woods available to perfumers.
The oil blends beautifully with sandalwood, cedarwood, vetiver, patchouli, frankincense, myrrh, benzoin, labdanum, vanilla, tonka bean, rose, jasmine, bergamot, sweet orange, grapefruit, and spice oils. It is particularly effective in amber accords, incense themes, and sophisticated woody bases where depth and longevity are desired without overwhelming the composition.
Beyond perfumery, Amyris is appreciated for its calming, grounding character and is frequently incorporated into aromatherapy blends, candles, soaps, and luxury home fragrance products. Its warm and reassuring aroma creates an atmosphere of comfort, tranquillity, and understated elegance.
Natroil's Amyris Essential Oil is therefore much more than a simple woody note. It is a versatile and highly functional perfumery material capable of adding warmth, depth, smoothness, and longevity to countless fragrance styles. Whether used to reinforce a woody accord, support an amber structure, soften florals, or provide natural fixative support, it contributes refinement and balance to the finished creation.
